Mother Veronica Center Anti-Discrimination Statement

In response to the requests of newcomers to our community, the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters established the Mother Veronica Center to welcome them and all Reading-area adults looking to learn English, acquire their GED diploma, prepare for the Naturalization Test, and/or gain computer skills. In addition, we provide access to educational and social services information to address other needs students may have.

The Mother Veronica Center is an equal opportunity organization, committed to ensuring that every adult learner has access to the resources and tailored support needed to achieve their personal and professional goals. We strive to provide a hospitable and empowering environment that honors the students’ and instructors’ diverse lived experiences, cultures, and identities. Our program is dedicated to continuous improvement. We aim to adapt our curriculum and instruction to meet the unique needs of our community.

Our anti-discrimination policy applies to internal and external volunteer selection/ termination; selection of vendors and other service providers, to everyone seeking our services, and in all program activities. We will not allow discrimination based on race, color, religion, age (eighteen and older), national origin, mental or physical disability, size, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, marital status, veteran status, or any other status prohibited by law.

Students and volunteers can report discrimination, harassment, and unequal treatment to the Director in person, by texting a request to be phoned, or by email at mveronicacenter@gmail.com — or to Sister Rose Jameson, OSF, our leadership liaison, at 484-509-4066 or by email at RoseJameson@bfranciscan.org. These reports will be investigated promptly and fairly.
